Manufacturers' general description and specs |(may differ, so please check images or contact us with any questions:
Designed to challenge indoor/outdoor powerchair standards, the Q100 R is ultra-compact for indoor agility, with stability and performance that‘s just as at home on the city streets. Smart design, smart looks - all at a smart price.
QUICKIE Q100 R uses an innovative testing method called SMART base technology. This helped us to understand how geometry changes to a drive base can affect performance, creating a precision-measured TRUE indoor/outdoor powerchair.
From SMART base development the Q100 R powerchair boasts an ultra-small footprint of 540 mm wide and 1010 mm long, with a tiny 1600 mm turning circle, so navigating even the tightest of spaces is a breeze.
SMART Base Technology
All indoor/outdoor powered wheelchairs face the same problem... We solved it with SMART BASE Technology.
Our vision was to create a TRUE indoor/outdoor powerchair with super-tight indoor manoeuvrability and no compromises on outdoor stability and performance. But how do you design such a delicately balanced powerchair?
A large drive-base means difficulty when manoeuvring in tight environments. Too small and it becomes tippy with a loss of traction. With SMART Base Technology we were able to test 100‘s of configurations to find the perfect combination.
The result is the QUICKIE SALSA Q100 R. A legitimately compact entry-level powerchair that delivers the very-best traction, stability and even the ability to climb kerbs of up to 100 mm (4“).
Designed to be in your space
Whether it’s around the home, the local café or shopping mall, the SALSA Q100 R is in-touch with its environment inside and out. With an ultra-slim base and tiny turning circle, even the smallest place will feel big.
So narrow-minded
Fed up of clipping the side of your powered wheelchair or scratching the paint work when squeezing through a tight doorway? The Q100R‘s ultra-slim base width of 540 mm can go where other indoor/outdoor powerchairs won‘t fit - so even negotiating narrow paths or packed tables at your favourite café will be a breeze.
The small powerchair that is big on going out
Popping out? The SALSA Q100 R‘s indoor capabilities are just as at home outdoors. Painstakingly researched, its compact dimensions provide highly deceptive traction and stability over a variety of terrains, hills and even when tackling kerbs.
Never an up-hill-struggle
Indoor/outdoor powerchairs don‘t traditionally cope well with steep gradients - a problem we solved with SMART Base Technology. Precision-testing determined that a 1010 mm base-length provides the best stability to prevent tipping and keep you safe - even when travelling up hills of 6 degrees.
SMART base technology helped to calculate not only the dimensions for a compact base, but also the ideal seated position for maximising traction between the drive-wheel and the ground. Combined with the Q100 R drive-wheel suspension, you‘ll enjoy the kind of safe, smooth and responsive ride that‘s normally expected from a larger powerchair.
Sit back and relax
The SALSA Q100R‘s seating has been designed to fit you. With plenty of settings and a 5-strap tension adjustable back to meet postural requirements, take comfort in knowing that if your needs change, so can your seat.
Seat adjustments include:

GMS Mobility 5-Star Warranty Information
We pride ourselves here at GMS Mobility on aftercare. It’s the after-sales service that is most important when dealing with Mobility Scooters and Powerchairs.
What happens if I have a technical or operational issue within the warranty period?
You simply email or call us for assistance. We are on hand to help with absolutely any query or issue that you have with your product, from just wanting to go through the operational controls to help if you believe the item is faulty. We want to help!
What if my scooter or powerchair arrives faulty or develops a fault in the warranty period?
The chances are, we are not local to you but we strongly believe that we offer a faster and more efficient warranty turnaround than your local mobility store!
In the unlikely event that your scooter or powerchair develops a fault, you simply contact us and we will arrange for our trusted specialist collection firm to come to your door usually the very next day! We receive it back to our HQ in Colchester within a couple of working days where our engineer looks at it straight away. Our service department will aim to turn it around within 24-48 hours subject to having the parts in stock (if parts are needed). If we need to order a part, most manufacturers keep most in stock and in most cases, only takes a few days to arrive to us.
Is there a cost involved with collecting my Scooter or Powerchair?
No, we pay for the collection and delivery costs unless the return is due to user error. This will be rare as we do like to run through what is happening and see if we can resolve the issue over the phone first.
Do I need to package up my Scooter or Powerchair for the collection couriers?
No, we use a specialist firm that takes it away fully assembled so no need to do anything except make sure the charger is included, if possible.

Â
Q. Can I drive my scooter on a public highway?
A. Yes, but you will need to register your mobility scooter (if an 8-mph road-legal version) with the DVLA in the same way as a car. We can do this free of charge for you. Simply contact us via email or telephone after purchase and let us do all the paperwork!
Please note: Only 8mph scooters with indicators, lights, a hooter, and at least one rear-view mirror are allowed on the road. Any scooter below 8mph is not for public highway use.
Q. Do I need a driving licence?
A. No, you are not required to have a driving licence to use a Mobility Scooter on the road.
Q. Do I need Insurance?
A. No, you are not legally required, like a car, to have insurance, but it is recommended. We can arrange the Insurance from as little as £91.00 per year, and it covers, amongst other things, £3m public liability!
Â
Q. Do I need to tax my mobility scooter?
A. Yes, even though mobility scooters are exempt from payment (yay!), you still need to tax it online in the same way as a motor vehicle. Please note that if you have asked us to organise a V5 logbook for you (we do this free of charge), we will automatically tax your scooter for 1 year.
Â
Q. What type of mobility scooters are aircraft-friendly?
A. Most, if not all, the smaller auto or manual folding mobility scooters are aircraft friendly that has a 12ah and under Lithium Ion battery. Please check first with your airline to make sure before travelling. All other small-type mobility scooters have sealed gel-type AGM batteries, which also should be acceptable with most airlines (always ask the airline, as not all companies have the same rules).
Q. What is Class 2 & Class 3?
A. Class 2 scooters are smaller, max out at 4 mph, and are meant for pavements. Class 3 scooters can travel up to 8 mph and have road-legal features (like lights, indicators, and horns) but can only go 4 mph on pavements.
Q. What is VAT Relief, and do I qualify?
A. If you have a long-term medical condition such as Arthritis, for example, you qualify to buy a mobility scooter or powerchair VAT-free!
Q. Are there rules for driving on pavements?
A. When it comes to driving on the pavement, you cannot go faster than 4mph, and any mobility scooter with an 8mph speed should be put into low range. You need to be attentive on pavements, as you are below most pedestrians' eye level, and pedestrians have the right of way. You cannot take mobility scooters or powered wheelchairs on cycle paths that are marked as cycle only.
Q. How often should I charge my Mobility Scooter / Powerchair?
A. Ideally, charge your scooter after each trip and to never let the battery get fully discharged. If you are not a regular user, charging it after use or at least once a month is sufficient.
Please note: Even though mobility scooters and powerchairs use high-quality branded batteries, It is not recommended to charge Lithium-Ion batteries overnight or when unattended.
